Brittany Bailey, b 1989. Based in NYC. Lives and works as a dance choreographer and performer.
Bailey graduated high school from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2008 and went on to train with Merce Cunningham in New York City. Bailey has worked with Marina Abramović, Michael Clark, Yvonne Rainer, Robert Wilson, Mark Fell, Christopher Knowles, and the Whirling Dervishes of the Mevlevi Order. She has performed at The Museum of Modern Art, Tate Modern, and The Guggenheim Museum. Bailey's work uses a vocabulary of shapes to construct choreography and has been presented at Judson Church, The Kennedy Center, Pioneer Works, The Performing Garage, EMPAC, Maccarone Gallery, Proyectos Monclova Gallery, MUDAM, Musées Royaux des Beaux Arts de Belgique, among others. Bailey created a dance technique titled The Dance Warm-Up, which is accessible to anyone wishing to participate and is published in the form of a manual. Bailey is currently studying Neuroscience and Behavior at Columbia University.
